• The femme was alone in this dreary forest. No one accompanied her, no one followed her, and no one watched her in the shadows. Everything was dark, except for a few, small specs of light that shone through the thick brush cover. These were the only things that shone the faint, well hidden path towards her goal, towards EquuSoul. Dark tree branches swayed towards the frightened fea, threatening to grab her moving vessel. Random, solid tree trunks popped up, making a prefect hiding spot for a human to trick her into captivity once again. Yet the path zigzagged on, whether Trave wanted it to end or not.
Thump, thump, thump… That was her heart, echoing loudly in her quivering ears. The femme’s mind spun, every noise was a threat, every time she jumped. The path seemed to never end, always breaking off in a new direction. Was I never supposed to come here? Am I supposed to turn back and return to…? Releasing a snort, the vixen shook her dial and eventually her whole figure trying to shake off the image that was placed in her mind. There was a man, a lunge whip, and… Suddenly, a gust of wind blew through the forest, taking the branch right behind the walking femme with it, colliding into her dark rump. Her heart leapt into her throat as she jumped two feet into the air. She was shocked; the past was turning into the present already and she had been trying to run from it. But they wouldn’t succeed if she could help it.
Extending into a flat out gallop, the fea raced through the trees faster than anyone would have though her to be able to do. She was a race horse, just as she had been, yet now there was no set track for her to follow. Now she was on her own, running for her life through the dark forest. An almost blinding light was ahead, shimmering through the trees. Her pace slowed down, but her spinning mind and breathing did not. Is that the gate I’ve been looking for or the human’s campfire? The femme didn’t know what to do. Hearing a rustle coming from behind, she made her mind quick, and that was to go.
Reaching the arching light the fea found her guess was correct. It was the entrance to EquuSoul, the entrance she had been looking for. Yet the gate was locked, and she could not get through. Trave pawed at the ground nervously, unsure on how that would help but hoping that it might. Would it be safe to call out telling them I am here? Turning her gaze back to where she had come, the fea stared intently, trying to find a human. Seeing none she quickly turned back and released a high, shaking whinny, one no one could mistake as anything but a call for help.
Her heart was pounding, breath coming fast and short. Sweat covered her shaking figure from cranium to plume. The vixen was a wreck; anyone could see that plain as day. Even though her optics faced forward, every other sense in her physique was aimed behind, making sure nothing tried to interrupt her plan of escape. Realizing what she must look like to any other equine; she stopped, forcing herself to get a grip. Trave, you are the brave one. You are the one who is supposed to have all the guts. Get A Grip!
Shutting her chocolate optics tight, the femme pulled herself together, lifting her cranium higher and relaxing her muscles. There she waited, hoping someone came for her before it was too late; and hoping that when they did, she didn’t look too nervous. •
